Los mejores juegos del año fueron galardonados en la ceremonia de entrega de premios The Game Awards 2024, celebrada en el teatro Peacock de Los Ángeles. En la gala, donde se repartieron premios en 30 categorías diferentes, el galardón más esperado fue el de 'Juego del Año'.

El ganador en la categoría de Juego del Año (GOTY), que este año incluyó por primera vez un DLC y causó malestar en muchos, fue Astro Bot. Astro Bot, que comenzó su camino como una demostración tecnológica para la consola PlayStation 5 y fue convertido en un juego completo por Team ASOBI, obtuvo el título del juego más premiado de la noche al ganar 4 premios en total.
