Actor Mehmet Günsür: 'I also have political views'
The television and film actor Mehmet Günsür attended a talk held at the Harbiye Muhsin Ertuğrul Stage the other day. Günsür stated, "Of course I have political views, but first and foremost I care about the concepts of love, peace, and empathy. I prioritize being responsible and doing good."
Known for projects such as Muhteşem Yüzyıl, Beyaz Gelincik, İstanbul Kırmızısı, and Atiye, Mehmet Günsür was a guest at the 38th edition of the youth festival Genç Günler.
Speaking about his life philosophy, the famous actor said, "Actually, as a person grows, their life philosophy changes in some way. You start to think about why you do many things that you previously couldn't name. I tell my children that we came to this world to dance and sing. There is something very magical to me about pleasing others and doing good. It might just be related to the characters you portray; as we said, touching hearts, if you can give someone happiness, the pleasure of that is immense."
'WORKING WITH PEOPLE WHO DO THEIR JOB WELL...'
When asked if he has political views, Günsür stated, "I don't have a mindset of 'I must be charming,' but treating people well and giving them pleasant feelings is what makes me happiest. I think I have such a perspective on life. Of course, I have political views; of course, I care about the concepts of love, peace, and empathy. I care about being responsible and doing good. Our journey in life begins with understanding ourselves well first. Being at peace with oneself is very important for doing one's art well. It is always a pleasure to work with people who do their job well."
'I MAKE DECISIONS INSTINCTIVELY'
Making statements about his career, the actor said, "Actually, I don't think in terms of 'I am in all the good projects.' I have acted in many other projects before getting to this point. My choice is: a proposal comes to me, I read the script, and I make a completely instinctive decision. Of course, there were projects I accepted to earn money at the beginning, but I am lucky; the projects that came were not very bad projects," and added:
"But as I said, I make an instinctive decision. It either excites me or scares me. I decide from the moment I read the script. But on the other hand, it is also luck, of course. Every project, even those I might call bad, teaches an actor many things. All projects are a training ground. After a point, things are proven, and those kinds of roles come to you. Since I don't live here, there are faces you see on screen more than me.
Actually, I think it's like this in every country. They are the first people who come to mind for a project. If you have found a chance to prove yourself in some way, the offers that come after that are based on that project. Since they don't want to take risks, producers may only want to see you in those roles. Actually, this question is a bit about the producers."
